GRADES AND EXPECTATIONS: Art Room- Mrs. Spoltman

My number one expectation is to turn your project/homework/sketchbook assignments in ON TIME. Please do not throw anything away until you know it is graded. I will say this over and over again. The only way to fail art class is to not turn in your work. When you do not turn your work in, it is a 0. Sketchbook assignments are worth a potential 15 points. 3 points are deducted off the total score the student earned when it is turned late. Projects turned in late, a full letter grade will be deducted. Each project is worth 100 pts.  I introduce each project and list the criteria for this project. I repeat the criteria for each project at the beginning of each class period. I also write that criteria on the board for the students to see and it will be on display throughout the project. Please do not throw anything away until you know it is graded.

For 3rd through 8th grade, the quarter grades are weighted as followed:

Projects: 65%
Sketchbook assignments: 25%
In class work/writing/quizzes: 10%

3rd through 8th Graders receive a letter grade in art class based on the scale specified in the Student Handbook.

For Kindergarten through 2nd grade, the quarter grades are 100% based on their participating in class and completing their project. A rubric will come home each quarter explaining their assessment. They are on the O, S+, S, S-, N, U scale that is mandated by the dioceses.

If you have any questions, please ask.
