WE ENCOURAGE OUR STUDENTS TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES, EXPLORE AND DEVELOP A BETTER SENSE OF SELF THROUGH OUR EXTRACURRICULAR FINE ARTS PROGRAMS.
Visual Arts (Grades K – 8)
Multiple opportunities for students to have further exposure to the arts. These include:
Art Club
Participation in FAME (Festival of Arts and Music Education)
Journal Gazette’s Design an Ad Artsonia (online display of students’ art work)
Windy City Players performances
Philharmonic performances
Pueri Cantores choir ensemble participation
Fine Arts Night participation including Aurasma (a digital discussion of each student’s art piece)
Show Choir (Grades 5 – 8)
Students learn how to read music and rhythms, proper breathing, vocal techniques, teamwork, and how to be a friendly competitor. Show choir also:
Competes against other local school show choirs
Performs throughout the year
Prepares students for high school show choir
Solo & Ensemble – Opportunity to participate in ISSMA (Indiana State School Music Association) competition
Band (Grades 4 – 8)
Beginning Band – for students just beginning to learn an instrument. No experience needed either in playing an instrument or reading music.
Advanced Band – for students with a year or more of playing an instrument
Solo & Ensemble – Grades 5-8 may participate in ISSMA (Indiana State School Music Association) competition
Guitar Program (Grades 5 – 8)
Basic - students learn the basics of guitar while preparing a repertoire for the annual Christmas recital and student recital
Advanced - these students learn church repertoire and are invited to play for school Masses
Liturgical Choir (Grades 5 – 8)
Students practice during school hours
Sing at school Masses as well as holy days
Opportunity to cantor during school Masses
Spring Musical (Grades 5 - 8)
Annual musical production with the opportunity to participate in various areas of a live stage production. This includes:
Acting
Choreography and dance
Music (playing and singing)
Scene design and construction
Stage management
